Splinting is the best form of treatment for teeth stabilization. In this technique, mobile teeth are fixed together with the assistance of healthy sound neighboring teeth using a wire fiber.
How it Works
By splinting, the biting or occlusal forces are evenly distributed, which reduces the pressure on traumatized teeth, allowing the supporting tissues to heal efficiently.
Types of Splinting
Temporary Splinting
Done for a shorter period of time, achieved by uniting the teeth during the initial healing phase after trauma.
Permanent Splinting
Used for periodontally compromised teeth that exhibit severe bone loss, ensuring long-term functional stability.
Extra-Coronal Splints
Materials are fixed on top of the tooth, usually by bonding on the enamel, making the group of teeth more stable.
Intra-Coronal Splints
Placed inside a small groove-like channel created on the inner tooth surface, where a metal wire is secured.
